[PRATT, KS-Nov 25th, 2025] - The Pratt Community College Women's Basketball team hosted Butler in an early season conference game Tuesday night. The Beavers would fight hard, but fell to the Grizzlies, losing 89-63. 

Game Recap: The Beavers (5-3, 1-2) opened the game on fire, jumping out to a 9-0 lead early. Pratt's early run was fueled by their suffocating defense which held the Grizzlies scoreless. Pratt continued to put defensive pressure on Butler (8-0, 3-0), forcing two turnovers and two airballs in the first five minutes. Following a steal, Pratt drove down the court and scored an easy layup by Emily Borissova to make the score 7-0 at the first media timeout. Polla Baint would go 2-2 at the line when the media timeout resumed giving the Beavers a 9-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. The Beavers then went cold for the next three minutes giving the Grizzlies an opportunity to mount a comeback. The Beavers would finally give up their first points as Butler gets a backdoor layup to go with a little under 5:00 left. Pratt's suffocating defense was able to hold the Tigers scoreless for the first 5 minutes of game time. Butler would not let up hitting a midranged two and then a layup to cut the Beaver lead to just three. Baint ends the Grizzlies 6-0 run by converting on a contested layup. Butler would answer right back with an and one which made the Beaver lead just two points. The Grizzlies would then tie the game up after a 2-2 performance at the charity stripe. Alivia Wright does not let the game end the first quarter in a tie as she hits a putback layup with mere seconds left on the clock. The Beavers would lead the Grizzlies 13-11 at the end of the first. 

Butler would open the second by hitting a three as time expired on the shot clock to take the lead for the first time in the game. The Butler offense would catch fire over the following minutes going on a 8-0 run to make the score 19-13. Pratt would answer with a layup by Analia Lorea to make the score 19-15 early in the second. Pratt's offense stayed cold and The Grizzlies capitalized on Pratt's misses to widen the gap to 25-15 with 5:45 left in the second. Pratt and Butler trade blows, with both teams scoring two layups on their following possessions to make the score 27-18 at the second media timeout. The Grizzlies came out of the timeout with multiple layups pushing the score to 33-18 in their favor. Pratt responded with a 5-0 run fueled by Nela Charynek. Pratt trails 33-23 with two minutes left in the second quarter. That gap would hold until a Butler mid ranged bucket to end the half. The Beavers would trail the Grizzlies at halftime 35-23. 

Butler would be the first team to score coming out of the break with a quick layup. The Beavers answered right back with a good contested layup by Baint. The Grizzlies wouldn't let Pratt's defense get back in rhythm, scoring immediately on the following drive. Pratt's offense then went cold being held scoreless for the next 2:30 minutes whilst Butler was able to extend their lead to 20. Charynek would end the scoring drought for the Beavers after converting on a midranged jumper. Baint also was able to find some points for the Beavers after sinking two free throws. Despite this the Beavers trailed the Grizzlies 47-29 with 5:00 left. Later in the quarter Borissova was able to convert on a three to make the Beaver deficit 17 points. The Grizzlies answered immediately, going on a 6-0 run following Borrissova's three. Pratt and Butler would continue taking blows neither really making a run for the remainder of the quarter. Following three quarters Butler led Pratt 61-41.

The Beavers are the first team to score to start off the fourth quarter with a contested layup, making the deficit 18 points. Butler answered on the other end of the floor with a three-pointer. Borrissova responds to Butler's three with a made three of her own. Butler kept scoring however, hitting a 17 foot jump shot. Baint, who was determined to get the Beavers back in the game, was fouled and went 2-2 at the line. Borrissova was also able to hit a long two pointer and the Beavers trailed by 19 with 6 minutes remaining in the game. Unfortunately from this point forward neither team separated themselves as Butler was able to cruise to a victory against the Beavers. The final score would be Butler 89 Pratt 63.
