The Beaver Wrestling Team continued their season at the Grand View Open in Grimes, Iowa at Ignit Sports and Fitness on November 15th.
The Beavers had 18 Individuals competing, with 7 Top Performances & Placements.
Top Performances included Damon Ingram at 149 lbs. and Zachary Wessley at 165lbs. They both finished the tournament 5-1 reaching the NCAA 6 Match Limit Rule which only allows a wrestler to compete in 6 Matches a day.
Gabriel Sherrel at 125 lbs. reached the Semi-Final before losing a close match to the NJCAA #4 Ranked Wrestler from Fort Hays Tech Northwest. Sherrell would go on to finish 6th Place after having to forfeit his Placement Match due to the NCAA 6 Match Limit Rule.
Preston Hagel at 197 lbs. and Marcel Gonzalez at Heavyweight also made their respective Semi-Final. After dropping their Semi-Final matches, they both were able to battle back to a 3rd Place Finish.
Sebastian Lopez, at Heavyweight, made it to Finals for the Beavers. Lopez posted 2 Decisions and 2 Falls enroute to a 2nd Runner-Up Finish.
Jacob Goodwin captured the Grand View Open 157 lbs. Title with a 5:28 Technical Fall in the Final over Colton Tucker of Northern Idaho College. Goodwin collected 2 Technical Falls and 2 Decisions on his way to the Semifinal. In the Semifinal, Goodwin earned a 4:38 Pin over Michael Myers of Iowa Central Community College.
The Beavers will continue their season on November 22nd where they will compete at the Younes Hospitality Open hosted by Nebraska-Kearney University in Kearney, Nebraska at the Kearney SportsPlex.
