Beavers Fall in OT vs Barton

[Pratt, KS-Feb 7th, 2026] - Men's Basketball was at home against Barton for a late season conference game. The Beavers were searching for their fourth conference win currently on a four game losing streak. The Beavers would play an ultra competitive game that would need an extra quarter to decide it. The Beavers would fall in overtime 78-85. 

Game Recap: 

Pratt (6-17), (3-15) started off the game trading shots with Barton (16-8) (11-7) tying the game at 6-6. The Cougars then knocked down some shots and were able to gain an early 14-6 lead. The Beavers would answer with a few buckets of their own tying the score up at 16. 

The following four minutes were similar with both teams taking shots at each other as Barton took a slight 25-22 lead. Barton would nearly pull away over the next few minutes after leading 31-24. Pratt came rallying back and with 1:00 left in the first half the Beavers took their first lead of the game after a three pointer connected to make the score 40-38 in their favor. Barton would be able to answer with a three of their own which made the score 41-40 at half. 

Despite trailing the Beavers shot an efficient 13-26 (50.0%) from the field in the first half. The Beavers were also solid from beyond the arc shooting 8-17 (47.1%) from three. Barton shot similar splits going 13-27 (48.1%) from the field and 3-8 (37.5%) from deep. Galvin Luketa led the Beavers in scoring at the break with 14 points on an extremely efficient 5-5 from the field. Luketa was complemented by Hunter Vaughn, who finished the half with 12 points.  

The early second half saw the Cougars get the first points as Barton knocked two 3 pointers to make the score 47-40. Pratt did not back down and went on a 5-0 run of their own to narrow the Barton lead to just 2. Barton didn't let the run bring them down as they proceeded on a 5-0 run of their own to make the score 51-45. The Beavers were able to get the game within reach as Barton led 55-51. 

The following three minutes looked worse for the Beavers as they were held scoreless. At the 8 minute mark the Beavers trailed by 9 points despite just 12 minutes ago trailing by one point. The Beavers never gave up as Muna Godswill went on a run of his own to put the Beavers back in the game 66-69. The Beavers and Cougars traded shots for a bit and the Beavers came out with the advantage trailing by just one point 71-70.

Barton would make two free throws on the next possession and now held a 73-70 with 1:45 left to play. The Beavers answered with a Kele Kane three pointer to tie the game. After a Barton turnover Hunter Vaughn hit a three pointer that almost blew the roof off of The Dome. The Beavers held a 76-73 but Barton tied the game at 76 a piece after converting a free throw and layup. Hunter Vaughn would take a three as time expired but would come up short. 

In OT Pratt went cold scoring just two points as Barton ran away with the game. The Beavers fell 78-85 in overtime.
