Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sean Flynn Resigns

Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sean Flynn has resigned effective immediately to take a job in the private sector.

“No coach works a job for money until life happens and you need the money. Regretfully, I have resigned my post at Pratt to take a job in the real world.,” said former head coach Sean Flynn. “Over the past few years I was afforded the opportunity to coach tough, loyal, everyday guys from all over the United States and beyond for a living. For this experience alone, I am the luckiest man on the planet.”

Coach Flynn completed his third full season as head coach in 2020-2021 after previously serving as assistant coach and interim head coach. He holds a 44 and 40 record during his time as head coach.

“I am grateful for my time coaching basketball at Pratt. I am appreciative of Dr. Calvert for giving me a chance and for the fairness of athletic director, Tim Swartzendruber,” said Flynn. “Tim is the most down to earth athletic director I have worked under.  Pratt is fortunate to have a regular guy running the show, like Tim.”

Under coach Flynn’s leadership the Beavers advanced to the Region VI Tournament in Wichita, KS in his first season as head coach. During his second season, the Beavers finished third in the Jayhawk West for just the fourth time in over 25 seasons. Last season the Beavers won five of their last six games rallying to a fourth-place finish in the Jayhawk West.

“Finally, I love all my players and know we achieved better than expected each year on the floor, in the classroom and most of all, as people. Our relationships are raw and genuine and so are the lessons we taught each other every day,” said Flynn. “Our real bond won’t change. Ever.  I look forward to following the team this year and know they are primed to do great things. I love them and miss all of them already.”

"Coach Flynn did a tremendous job at Pratt. Our players always represented the institution with class both on and off the floor, said Athletic Director Time Swartzendruber.” “Coach Flynn took great pride in doing it the right way.  We wish him the best in his new endeavor.”

Kenny Eddy has been named interim head coach moving forward. The Beavers kick off their season tonight against the McPherson College (JV) Bulldogs. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Beaver Dome.
